An intimate Brazilian Music listening series
Join us for the very first Dengo Sessions, curated by Gabriel Bello (Rooted Art), bringing together Brazilian artists from Toronto’s independent music scene.
For this inaugural edition, we’re welcoming Aline Morales - Brazilian percussionist, singer, composer, and music educator based in Toronto, whose work is rooted in Afro-Brazilian musical traditions.
The session features one artist performance followed by an intimate conversation about their music, creative process, inspirations, and the stories behind their songs.
More than a performance, Dengo is a space for listening, connection, and conversation - a moment to slow down, discover artists beyond the mainstream, and share in the warmth and closeness that the word dengo evokes.
Come if you… love Brazilian music, want to discover artists you may not have heard before, are curious about the stories behind the songs, or simply want to spend an afternoon listening, connecting, and being inspired. Can't wait to have you at Underscore Projects!
Dengo Sessions is rooted in the same spirit that inspires Underscore Projects: creating space for artists, culture, and meaningful connection within the community. We’re excited to welcome this intimate listening series into our space, where music, visual art, books, coffee, and conversation can come together in one afternoon. We hope you’ll not only come for the music, but stay for the atmosphere, discover something new, and make yourself at home.

Supporting independent cultural spaces
Underscore Projects is an independent, self-funded space, located in Toronto’s Little Portugal, created and run by Brazilians. Ticket sales and event revenue help us cover the costs of keeping the space open and allow us to continue presenting exhibitions, workshops, performances, and other community programming.
The space was born from a desire to create a place where art, creativity, and community could come together, hosting exhibitions, workshops, events, and different creative projects throughout the year.
